Abstract

Currently, there are 4 million patients on a waiting list in the UK. In 2018, the Dental Medicine specialty at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust were challenged with lengthy waiting listscompounded by a DNA (did not attend) rate of 12.3%; so partnered with DrDoctor to reduce these by implementing our Patient-led Booking solution. 

In one specialty (Dental Medicine): waiting lists for overdue follow-ups were reduced from 1,500 to 150 patients; the overall DNA rate has reduced from 12% to 9% (25% improvement); 30% of patients who were invited to self-book chose to do so, and; 10,200 patients (9,000 new, 1,200 follow-up) in the Dental Directorate have successfully ‘self-booked’ in the past 12 months, saving a total administrative time of 340 hours.
